Thirty-Nine Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) have completed the Senior Non-Commissioned Officers' Course 1/2026 following eight weeks of intensive leadership and professional military training at Air Force Base Accra.

The graduating class comprised 37 personnel from all Air Force Bases, as well as one representative each from the Ghana Army and Ghana Navy, highlighting the Ghana Armed Forces' growing emphasis on joint-service leadership development.

Addressing the graduates, the Commander of the Air Force Training Command, Air Commodore Richard Danso, who was the Guest of Honour, congratulated them on successfully completing the course. He noted that the participation of personnel from the Ghana Army and Ghana Navy underscored the Ghana Armed Forces' commitment to joint-service cooperation and the development of unified military leadership.

Describing the eight-week programme as rigorous and transformative, Air Commodore Danso said the course was designed to sharpen leadership competencies and prepare participants for greater responsibilities within the Armed Forces. He observed that while the participants began the programme as experienced professionals, they were graduating as more capable and confident leaders equipped to translate command intent into operational success.

He emphasised that Senior Non-Commissioned Officers occupy a critical position within the military hierarchy, serving as the vital link between commanders and the rank and file. According to him, the confidence reposed in them by command comes with the responsibility to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and integrity, as their conduct directly influences the operational readiness and effectiveness of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Air Commodore Danso urged the graduates to regard the certificates they had earned not as the culmination of their learning journey but as the beginning of greater responsibilities. He challenged them to return to their respective units as disciplined, dependable and confident leaders capable of making sound decisions and providing effective leadership under all circumstances.

He further noted that true leadership is measured not only by personal achievements but also by the ability to develop and inspire others. He therefore encouraged the graduates to become exemplary role models whose conduct earns the trust and respect of junior airmen, soldiers and sailors while upholding the core values and professional standards of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Air Commodore Danso also encouraged the graduates to pursue continuous personal and professional development and plan adequately for life after active service. He urged them to build and maintain strong professional and social networks and continue supporting one another throughout their careers by leveraging their collective knowledge and experience for the benefit of the Service.

In his remarks, the Course Coordinator, Flight Lieutenant Julius Avenyor, commended the directing staff and instructors for their dedication, commitment and professionalism throughout the programme. He also lauded the participants for their discipline, resilience and determination, noting that their performance demonstrated their readiness to assume higher leadership responsibilities.

Flight Lieutenant Avenyor explained that throughout the course, participants underwent intensive classroom instruction and practical exercises in leadership, command and management, military communication, administration and decision-making. They also participated in syndicate discussions, presentations and educational visits designed to broaden their perspectives and expose them to the realities and expectations of senior military leadership.

The ceremony marked the successful completion of another leadership development programme aimed at strengthening the Ghana Armed Forces through the continuous professional development of its Senior Non-Commissioned Officers, who remain the backbone of effective command and operational excellence.
