Role of the Engineering Wing
The Officer Commanding the Engineering Wing is responsible to the Base Commander for all engineering/ maintenance matters. The Wing boasts of the largest number of personnel on the Base; 52% of the Base’s strength.
Squadrons under the Engineering Wing are:
- Mechanical Engineering Sqn (AIR). This handles aircraft maintenance.
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering Squadron (EES). Responsible for all electrical and avionic aspects of aircraft and ground equipment.
- Mechanical Engineering Squadron (Ground). In charge of the maintenance and servicing of ground support equipment.
