Air Commodore Elvis King Arneson

Air Commodore Elvis King Arneson was born on 27 June 1970 at Accra, Ghana. He had his primary education school at Wusuta EP Primary School. On completion, he gained admission to Secondary School in 1980 where he obtained his Ordinary and Advanced Level Certificates in1987 and 1989 respectively.

He was enlisted into the Ghana Military Academy intake 32 Regular Course in 1991and into Flying Training School (FTS) course 24 and commissioned in August 1993 as a Pilot. He obtained Private and Comercial Pilot’s Licenses (PPL/ CPL) from Sierra Academy of Aeronautics Oakland California and Certified Flight Instructor’s (CFI) certifícate from HELIFLIGHT international in Florida USA.

As a pilot in the Number 3 Helicopter Squadron, he attended several military courses notable among them were the Basic Military Law and Public and Non-Public Accts courses.Appointments held included base and squadron adjutant, flight commander and squadron training officer.

He was appointed Acting Officer Commanding Number 3 Helicopter Squadron in 2006 and substantive Officer Commanding in 2008 -2014.

He was the Deputy Commanding Officer Ghana Aviation Unit 8 deployed to La Cote D’Ivoire in 2010, Commanding Officer Ghana Aviation Unit 9, 11, 14 and 16. He was appointed Officer Commanding Flying Wing Air Force Base Takoradi Aug 2015 and appointed Director Air Operation Air Force Headquarters 2016.

He also served as Ghana’s Defence Adviser to Egypt in Cairo from 2017 to 2020 and was also Director Training at Air Force Headquarters Burma-Camp Accra. He has attended various seminars and workshops some of which are oil rig security operations and disaster management.

He had his junior and senior division staff courses at Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji, Nigeria and Air Command and Staff College Montgomery Alabama respectively. He attended National Defence College of Nigeria and was awarded Fellow of the Defence College (fdc) and a Certificate in peace support operations. He also has a Master of Military Operational Art and Science from Air University Montgomery Alabama, USA.

Additionally, he holds Master of Science in Strategic Studies from University of Ibadan, Nigeria and Master of Business Administration from Leicester University United Kingdom. Among aircrafts flown were L-29, R22, BEL 206, A- III B, A-109, AB-412, MI-17V5 and MI-171sh. He has over 4000 hours to his credit. He has several medals among are UNOCI (9), Air Force @50, 31st Dec, Golden Jubilee and MONUC (2) medals. Arneson is happily married with children. His hobbies are reading and playing squash.
