Air Commodore Kwabena Kissiedu Manukure Atiemo
Air Commodore KKM Atiemo was born on 7 May 1974 in Kumasi. He spent his childhood years in Nairobi, Kenya where he completed his Ordinary Level International General Certificate at Rusinga School in 1991. He also attended University of Eastern Africa in Baraton, Western Kenya, completing in 1996, with a Bachelor of Science in Automotive Technology.
He has a Commercial Pilots License with Instrument Rating in Multi-Engine Aircraft. He is an experienced pilot of the No.4 Strike and Recce Wing, Air Force Base, Accra. Air Commodore Atiemo has successfully completed all military courses commensurate to his rank and has two Masters Degrees: one in Military Operational Arts and Science, and the second in Strategic Studies.
Air Commodore Atiemo was enlisted into the Ghana Armed Forces in October 1997 and commissioned into the Ghana Air Force, Air Branch on 20 August 1999 as part of the Regular Career Intake 39. Over the years, he has held a variety of command and staff appointments in both acting and substantive capacities. Notable among these are:
- Assistant Director Air Operations, Air Force Headquarters from May 2005 - April 2006.
- Officer Commanding Number 4 Squadron, Air Force Base Accra from August 2014 - January 2015.
- Directing Staff at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College and Rwanda Defence Forces Command and Staff College from November 2018 to October 2020.
- Officer Commanding Flying Wing, Air Force Base Takoradi from November 2020 - May 2023.
- He also served the African Union in Mogadishu, Somalia. There, he served initially as Staff Officer Grade 2 Air Plans at the Force Headquarters in the then African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) - now African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) - and later as the Chief Support Planning and Tasking Unit, AU/UN Joint Support Operations Centre from June 2012 - July 2014.
- Before his current appointment as Commander, Tactical Air Command, Bui, he served 2 short stints as the Deputy Chief Staff Officer Operations and Training at the Air Force Headquarters and then as the Base Commander Air Force Base, Takoradi, all between August 2024 and April 2025.
He is married and blessed with 3 children, and loves to engage people of all backgrounds and age groups, encouraging and imparting practical knowledge, and especially learning from them. He also likes reading, listening to music, playing soccer, basketball, badminton, cycling and flying (surprise, surprise!).
