ACTING AIB COMMISSIONER VISITS AIR FORCE HEADQUARTERS TO DEEPEN AVIATION SAFETY COLLABORATION

The Acting Commissioner of the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau (AIB), Mr John Wumborti and his team paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frempong at the Air Force Headquarters on Tuesday, 6 May 2025.

 

 

The visit forms part of the AIB's broader stakeholder engagement efforts aimed at strengthening collaboration with key players in the aviation sector to enhance the safety and security of Ghana’s airspace.

 

 

During the meeting, Mr. Wumborti expressed appreciation to the Air Force for its continued support, especially in providing space at the Air Force Base in Tamale for the establishment of a laboratory to support the Bureau's investigative functions as he emphasised on the importance of sustained cooperation between the AIB and the Ghana Air Force.

 

 

Mr Wumborti also proposed a review of the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the AIB and the Ghana Air Force, suggesting that technical teams from both sides should work together to align the agreement with evolving operational needs and international standards whiles paying attention to broader stakeholder engagement.

 

 

In response, the Chief of the Air Staff welcomed the proposal to review the MoU and underscored the need to ensure that such agreements are both practical and beneficial to parties involved.

 

 

He reiterated the Air Force’s commitment to supporting stakeholders within the aviation sector and highlighted the importance of joint training exercises and simulation activities as key to improving personnel capacity and operational readiness.
