The Air Force Base Takoradi (AFB TAK) has held its end-of-year all ranks durbar and awarded deserving personnel on Friday 27 December 2024.

Addressing the troops, the Base Commander, Air Commodore Kwabena Manukure Atiemo stressed the importance of discipline in all aspects of military life and noted how discipline ensured the smooth functioning of operations and fostered a sense of responsibility and respect among the ranks this year.

He emphasised on the commitment to work as a cornerstone of the successes chalked by the Base and praised the dedication and hard work of personnel over the period. He encouraged personnel to continue striving for excellence and to take pride in their contributions towards the operations of the Base.

Air Commodore Manukure Atiemo admonished personnel to maintain good hygiene practices and follow established protocols especially in light of the recent Cholera outbreak within the Region. He advised personnel to take note of the measures taken to ensure a clean and healthy environment.

The Base Commander expressed confidence in the impact of some ongoing infrastructural projects when completed.  They included; accommodation at the old training school, re-roofing of barracks accommodation and studio accommodation.

Some deserving Airmen and Defence Civilian Staff of the Base who distinguished themselves in the discharge of their duties within the year received awards.

Cpl Amponsah Eric received a 55-inch TCL Television Set for being the best Administrative personnel and the overall best Airman of the year, F/Sgt Klomanyi Peace was crowned the best Flying Group personnel of the year, Sgt Ankoye Emmanuel won the best Supply Personnel of the year whereas Sgt Sebuava Edwin was adjudged the best personnel of the Engineering Wing.

Mrs Araba M Ilupeju was presented with a Chest Freezer and Mr Dominic Diedo also received an undisclosed cash amount. Madam Vivian Mensah received a special award from the Base Commander while Mr Cornelius Awumah was adjudged the best Civilian Staff of the year.
