AFRTS HOLDS INTER SQUADRON STEEPLECHASE COMPETITION

A 12 kilometer inter squadron steeplechase competition has been organised by the Air Force Recruit Training School (AFRTS), Takoradi for Recruits of course 1/2023 on Friday 30 June 2023. In all, about 300 Recruits took part in the 52 minutes competition which commenced at the AFRTS obstacle training area.

Addressing the gathering, the Base Commander Air Force Base Takoradi, Air Commodore Godfred Sackey-Parker noted the importance of steeplechase competitions as a way of building the endurance and physical capabilities of the Recruits. 

 

The Recruits were made to surmount series of obstacles which included, rifle carrying while running, a 50 kg sand bag handling, navigating through a river, climbing a 10 feet high wall embellished with cargo net, climbing a vertical ladder, fire ditching and belly crawling. 

 

At the end of the keenly contested competition, the outstanding Squadron, was clinched by Casa Squadron with 4,027 points. 

 

The second place went to MI 17 Squadron with 4,642 points followed by Diamond Squadron with 5,357 points and Falcon Squadron with 6,444 points occupying the third and fourth positions respectively.
