AIR COMMODORE ATIEMO ASSUMES OFFICE AS AIR FORCE BASE COMMANDER, TAKORADI

Air Commodore Kwabena Kissiedu Manukure Atiemo has on Wednesday 28 August 2024, taken over Command of Air Force Base Takoradi.

 

As part of activities marked for his reception, a Special Quarter guard was mounted in his honour. This was followed by briefing with Officers at the Officers’ briefing room and later a durbar with all ranks and Defence Civilian Staff at the Ashley-Lassen hanger.

 

 

In welcoming the Base Commander, The Flying Group Commander, Group Captain SY Agbenyefia in her remarks stated that, the day marked a momentous time in the lives of personnel of the Base, who had waited for nine months in anticipation of a replacement of their deceased Base Commander, Air Commodore Godfried Sackey Parker. She said that it was a testament of their resilience and faith in the Almighty God that had kept them stable till date. She extended her appreciation to all personnel for their collective support in the trying times and mentioned that the collective strength, resilience and comradeship had enabled the Base to stand strong and united.

 

 

She expressed her profound gratitude to Officers, Airmen and Defence Civilian Staff for the support and dedication they extended to her within the period. She admonished them to extend the same support accorded her to the Base Commander, who she said is a spirit - filled leader, a teacher and an inspirational leader.

 

 

Speaking at the durbar, the Base Commander, Air Commodore Atiemo expressed appreciation for the reception given him.

 

 

He stated that he represents the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal Frederick Asare Kwasi Bekoe on the Base and therefore shared in every bit of his vision. He entreated all to collectively rally behind him to work towards the realisation of the vision. He used the opportunity to commend the Flying Group Commander, Group Captain SY Agbenyefia for all her efforts in making the Air Force Base Takoradi very formidable.

 

 

The Base Commander advised personnel to remain disciplined at all levels and serve the Ghana Armed Forces at all times. He asked personnel to make it a point to exercise their franchise during the special voting and remain focus on their military duties during the main presidential and parliamentary elections. He emphasised that personnel should be apolitical and discharge their duties diligently at all times.

 

 

Air Commodore Atiemo later took the symbolic Cane of Authority as the new Base Commander at the Base Headquarters.

 

 

Present were the Commanding Officer, Supply Wing, Wing Commander Samuel Kwame Baah Banson, Acting Commanding Officer, Administration Wing, Squadron Leader Abdul Aziz Sherif Mustapha, Officers, Airmen and Defence Civilian Staff.
