AIR COMMODORE ATIEMO INDUCTED INTO OFFICE

Air Commodore Kwabena Kissiedu Manukre Atiemo has been officially inducted into office as the Base Commander, Air Force Base Takoradi on Sunday, 13 October 2024.

The induction service was held at the Air Force Recruit Training School (AFRTS) auditorium under the theme: "Our Lives Our Worship; Our Work Our Worship".

The Acting Director General, Religious Affairs (A/DGRA) of the Ghana Armed Forces, Colonel Benjamin Godson Kumi-Woode officiated the induction ceremony and administered the oath of office to the Base Commander.

In his address, Air Commodore Atiemo reaffirmed the vision of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal Frederick Asare Kwasi Bekoe, to create a smart Air Force, emphasising that this vision could only be achieved through good use of power at all levels, professionalism, politeness and support from all personnel. He further noted that the true measure of his leadership would lie in the quality of Officers, Airmen, and Defence Civilian Staff his Command would produce.

The Base Commander expressed his commitment to leading with integrity, fostering teamwork, and striving for excellence. He also promised to prioritize the welfare of all personnel as rooted in the pledge he had made to serve while expecting high standards from them in order to meet the expectations of the CAS and all stakeholders.

He expressed his gratitude to the Chief of the Air Staff and the Military High Command for the trust reposed in him to serve as Base Commander and underscored the extraordinary privilege of serving the nation as he reminded personnel to uphold the oath they sworn to defend their country even at the peril of their lives.

In the sermon, Reverend Samuel Atiemo, father of the Base Commander spoke about the challenges Christians face worldwide due to their service to God but highlighted that their strength lies in their faith. He shared the story of Constantine's victory in the Western Roman Empire after seeing a vision of Christ and the cross, underscoring the cross as a symbol of victory.

Delivering the Islamic exhortation, the Ghana Armed Forces Chief Imam, Lieutenant Colonel Najmu-Deen Agbere Mohammed reminded the congregation that Allah tests all humans throughout their lives. He therefore encouraged everyone to remain steadfast in their faith as doing so would lead to reward in the hereafter.
