AIR FORCE BASE ACCRA CONDUCTS EXERCISE THUNDERBOLT FOR RCC 63 FLIGHT CADETS

The Air Force Base, Accra has successfully organised a four-day training exercise dubbed ‘Exercise Thunderbolt’ for flight cadets of Regular Career Course 63 (RCC 63).

 

 

The exercise which was held from Tuesday 24 to Friday 27 September 2024, formed an integral part of the cadets' training curriculum. It was designed to provide 25 participating cadets with first-hand experience on the day-to-day operations of the Ghana Air Force, provide understanding of air operations with the ability to integrate with land and maritime missions.

 

 

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Base Commander, Air Force Base, Accra, Air Commodore Eric Agyen-Frempong, emphasised the Chief of the Air Staff’s vision of building a smart Air Force capable of safeguarding the territorial airspace of Ghana.

 

 

Air Commodore Agyen-Frempong urged the cadets to remain focused on their training. He further highlighted the importance of being well-versed in the operations and the structure of the Air Force Base, Accra since they would be working within the same environment upon commissioning into the Ghana Air Force.

 

 

Commanding Officer of the Number 4 Strike and Recce Wing, Wing Commander Frank Ato Mills, encouraged the cadets to approach their roles with a mindset geared towards long term career development within the Air Force.

 

 

As part of Exercise Thunderbolt, the cadets were exposed to various facets of Air Force operations, including ground and aerial communication, operations room routines and office practices. In addition, the cadets were given a wonderful flight experience and a tour of the Air Force Base, Accra to familiarise themselves.
