AIR FORCE BASE TAKORADI HONOURS RETIRING MILITARY CHAPLAIN

Air Force Base Takoradi has held a send-off ceremony in honour of Squadron Leader Samuel Pius Miezah Aseleku following his retirement from the Ghana Armed Forces after about 14 years of dedicated service as a military chaplain. The ceremony took place on Thursday, 21 May 2026, at the Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers’ Mess at the Air Force Base Takoradi.

 

 

Addressing personnel at the ceremony, Squadron Leader Aseleku expressed gratitude to the Base Commander of Air Force Base Takoradi, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, and all personnel for the support and cooperation he received throughout the period.

 

 

He described his experience serving as a military chaplain within the Garrison as fulfilling, impactful and memorable, noting that the opportunity had contributed significantly to both his personal and professional development. He further thanked Almighty God for granting him the opportunity to serve in uniform and prayed for greater opportunities and blessings in the future.

 

 

Squadron Leader Aseleku also encouraged personnel to uphold discipline, professionalism and integrity in the discharge of their duties. He advised personnel to conduct themselves professionally at all times and avoid actions that could negatively affect their careers, while encouraging those facing challenges in the Service to seek redress through the appropriate administrative channels.

 

 

In a brief remark, the Commanding Officer Administration Wing, Wing Commander Abdul Aziz Sheriff Mustapha, congratulated the retiring chaplain on behalf of the Base and expressed appreciation for his dedicated, selfless, and impactful service to both the Base and the Ghana Armed Forces.

 

 

The Officer Commanding Morale, Welfare and Recreation Squadron, Squadron Leader Francis Ekpale, also commended the chaplain for the spiritual guidance, counselling and moral support he provided to personnel over the years and wished him success in his future endeavours.

 

 

As part of the ceremony, a citation was presented to Squadron Leader Samuel Pius Miezah Aseleku in recognition of his meritorious service and immense contribution to the spiritual growth, welfare and morale of personnel at Air Force Base Takoradi and the Ghana Armed Forces.
