AIR FORCE BASE TAKORADI ORGANISES INTER WINGS SHOOTING COMPETITION

Air Force Base, Takoradi has organised an Inter Wings shooting competition for its personnel on Thursday 22 August 2024 at 2 Battalion of Infantry firing range, at Myohaung Barracks, Apremdo.

 

This event also climaxed a two-day range exercise organised for the various wings from Tuesday 20 August 2024 to Wednesday 21 August 2024.

 

 

Giving her remarks, the Flying Group Commander, Air Force Base, Takoradi, Group Captain SY Agbenyefia noted that in the course of the exercise, personnel had improved on their firing skills, enhanced their precision and reaffirmed their commitment to being ever-ready for the challenges that lay ahead. She stated that the importance of marksmanship in the military profession could not be overstated and that the marksmanship skill demanded focus, control and an unwavering determination.

 

She expressed her delight with the range work as the marksmanship principles, tactics and teamwork were all on display. The Flying Group Commander added that it had been a fierce and competitive firing competition and participants had demonstrated exceptional skill, focus and determination.

 

 

She reminded the participants that the competition was not just about individual scores or bragging rights but it was about building their collective strength, readiness and everyone’s ability to work together in excellence, any time they were called upon. She further challenged participants to carry the competitive spirit with them and to apply it in every aspect of their training, missions and daily work. She also asked participants to build on the momentum and continue to raise the bar for themselves as well as each other.

 

 

She used the opportunity to express her deepest appreciation to all instructors and personnel whose tireless efforts made the exercise a success. She also thanked the Commanding Officer of 2 Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Atobrah Bondah for granting them the use of the Apremdo range.

 

Some of the activities that took place at the range during the exercise included quick reaction firing, firing at various positions, fallen plates as well as firing and movement ( non-scoring).

 

 

At the end of the competition, Flying Group placed 4th with 668 points, Engineering Wing came 3rd with 670 points, Supply Wing placed 2nd with 702 points. The Administration wing was adjudged overall winners with 856 points. The overall best firer was Pilot Officer Anani.
