AIR FORCE SENIOR WARRANT OFFICER INSTALLED AS A CHIEF

Senior Warrant Officer Class Two (SWOII) Asamoah Ebenezer from the Air Force Headquarters has been enstooled as the Ankobeahene of the Awukugua-Akuapem community on the revered grounds of the Awukugua Palace on Sunday 3 September 2023.

 

 

The installation process begun on Saturday 26 August 2023 when he was “captured” by the Asafo Group from Burma Camp and heralded through the principal streets of Awukugua amidst cheering and jubilation for the necessary chieftaincy rituals. SWO Asamoah was then taken through a period of confinement where he was taught the history, traditions, customs and practices as well as cleansed spiritually to prepare him for his new role.

 

 

Following his successful enstoolment, SWO Asamoah was poised for the final phase which was the swearing in and official outdooring. This event began with a colorful procession, led by traditional drummers and dancers, creating an atmosphere of jubilation and cultural significance. The Ankobeahene-elect, SWOII Asamoah Ebenezer, donned in traditional regalia, was accompanied by a procession of paramount chiefs, royals, and esteemed individuals from the Awukugua-Akuapem community.

 

 

The swearing-in ceremony was presided over by Nana Asamoah Doudu Amoa III, the paramount chief of the Awukugua-Akuapem Traditional Council. SWOII Asamoah Ebenezer took his oath of office on the "Ako fra", the sacred sword of the Awukugua-Akuapem community, symbolizing his commitment to protect, lead and serve the people of Awukugua-Akuapem with honesty and integrity.

 

 

Following the swearing-in, the new Ankobeahene held a grand feast to celebrate the occasion, where community members were treated to a sumptuous array of local delicacies. He was also showered with gifts by well-wishers and the Air Force Headquarters. This gesture signified the unity and camaraderie that will be upheld during SWOII Asamoah Ebenezer's tenure.

 

 

The swearing-in ceremony was not only a significant milestone for Awukugua-Akuapem but also a testament to the cultural richness and traditions of the Akuapem Kingdom. The community now looks forward to an era of dynamic leadership under Ankobeahene SWO II Asamoah Ebenezer.

 

 

Notable personalities in attendance included Chiefs from the Awukugua- Akuapem Traditional area. The Ghana Air Force was represented by the Commander, Air Force Base Accra, Air Commodore Eric Agyen-Frempong, Chief Staff Officer, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, Commander Air Force Training Command, Air Commodore Mathias Awuah and some Senior Officers and Soldiers of the Ghana Air Force, religious leaders and representatives of neighboring communities.
