AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL COURSE 16B UNDERTAKES ASSESSMENT PRACTICALS AT GHANA CIVIL AVIATION TRAINING ACADEMY
Students of Air Traffic Control Course 16B at the Ghana Air Force Aviation College commenced their assessment practicals at the Ghana Civil Aviation Training Academy (GATA) on Monday, 16 February 2026. The exercise forms a critical component of their training programme and is aimed at evaluating their operational competence and readiness to assume professional responsibilities in air traffic management.

The practical assessment is designed to test the students’ mastery of air traffic control procedures, standard communication phraseology, situational awareness, and sound decision-making within a simulated operational environment that mirrors real-world aviation scenarios.

The Chief Instructor for the course, Squadron Leader Priscilla Edem Dzoku, emphasised that such hands-on evaluations are indispensable in determining the preparedness of trainees and ensuring they meet the stringent professional standards required of air traffic control personnel.

She noted that the exercise measures each participant’s ability to translate theoretical knowledge into practical application while upholding the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and efficiency.

The assessment practicals represent a significant milestone in the course, bringing the students a step closer to qualifying as competent and certified air traffic control professionals.
