AIR VICE MARSHAL JOSHUA LARTEI MENSAH-LARKAI HANDS OVER COMMAND OF AIR FORCE BASE TAMALE TO AIR COMMODORE NANA ADU-GYAMFI

Air Vice Marshal Joshua Lartei Mensah-Larkai has officially handed over authority as Base Commander, Air Force Base Tamale to Air Commodore Nana Adu-Gyamfi, at a ceremony held on Wednesday, 14 May 2025 at the Base.

 

 

 

Prior to the official handing-over ceremony, Air Vice Marshal Mensah-Larkai, accompanied by the Northern Regional Minister, Honourable Ali Adolf John Nburidiba, inaugurated a state-of-the-art sports complex and a creche for the Base, which was sponsored by Mr. Ibrahim Mahama and DeSimone Limited. In his address, Honourable Ali Adolf John Nburidiba emphasized the crucial role of fitness in the lives of uniformed personnel, underscoring the strategic benefits of the sports complex. He further reaffirmed his commitment to supporting future initiatives aimed at advancing the development and training of Base personnel.

 

 

 

The ceremony was climaxed with a Guard of Honour mounted by personnel from the 6 Garrison (6 Infantry Battalion, 69 AirBorne Force, 93 Signal Regiment and Air Force Base Tamale). In his farewell address, Air Vice Marshal Mensah-Larkai, doubling as the 6 Garrison Commander, acknowledged the unwavering support, dedication and crucial contributions of officers, soldiers and Defense Civilian Staff during his two-year and seven-month tour of duty as Base Commander. He highlighted completed and ongoing projects under his command which prioritized enhancing the quality of life of personnel and fostering a burgeoning environment.

 

 

 

Air Vice Marshal Mensah-Larkai congratulated the newly appointed Commander, Air Commodore Adu-Gyamfi, noting that he was inheriting not just a Command, but a supportive family. He expressed deep appreciation to all who supported him, acknowledging the invaluable contributions of the Regional Minister, Officers, Soldiers, Defense Civilian Staff of the Garrison and the Air Wives Organization. He also extended his gratitude to sister Security Services, Chiefs and civil authorities.

 

 

Present at the ceremony was the Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Ali Adolf John Nburidiba and Senior Military Officers from the General Headquarters, Burma Camp. Also in attendance were Officers, Soldiers and Defense Civilian Staff from Units within 6 Garrison, representatives from sister Security Services, Traditional Leaders, various civil society groups and members of the Media.
