AMET PHASE III PROGRAMME COMMENCES

Following a successful Aeromedical Evacuation Training (AMET) programme organised earlier this year by the Defense Institute for Medical Operations (DIMO) team from the USA, 30 new participants have commenced training to acquire vital knowledge in aeromedical procedures.

Scheduled to run from Monday 22 April to Friday 3 May 2024, the third phase of the AMET programme will see participation from personnel drawn from both the Ghana Air Force and General Headquarters Medical.

Notably, 10 Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) personnel who demonstrated exceptional performance in the initial course have been appointed as instructors to train the new participants under the supervision of the DIMO team.

The Director Training at General Headquarters Medical, Colonel George Boamah, expressed satisfaction with the steady progress of the AMET programme. He commended the 10 GAF personnel for their achievement in becoming certified AMET Instructors and encouraged course participants to diligently build their knowledge to better serve both the Ghana Armed Forces and the nation.

As part of the course outline, participants will be taken through Tactical Combat Casualty Care, Medical Mission Planning, Medical Logistics, Train the Trainer, Medical Evacuation Case Scenario and Crew Resource Management.

Through these sessions, participants are expected to be equipped with the necessary skills to effectively respond to medical emergencies in diverse operational environments.
