C-IN-C COMMENDS GAF
The President and Commander-in-Chief (C-in-C) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commended personnel of GAF for exhibiting a high sense of professionalism, dedication, and commitment to duty over the period. This Commendation was conveyed by the Chief of the Defence Staff, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama during his visit to the Air Force Headquarters on Wednesday 3 January 2024.
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama said the President was grateful to the GAF and the other security services for ensuring peace, security and stability of the country. Taking into cognizance of the year 2024 being an election year, the CDS advocated for the need for personnel to continue to re-affirm their loyalty, and commitment to peace and security by ensuring an incident-free election.
Vice Admiral Amoama added that the Country was counting on GAF and the various security services to ensure that citizens exercise their right to vote and elect a President in a free, fair and transparent manner. He also commended the Ghana Air Force (GHF) in particular for their work in support of the Military High Command. He added that despite the challenges, GAF was poised to extra work hard and contribute to the socio-economic development of the country in the ensuing year.
As part of his visit, he gave an update on some issues bothering operations, logistics and administration. The CDS noted that several interventions and initiatives had been put in place to enhance the quality of life for all personnel including civilian employees. He mentioned the re-structuring and automation of the widow’s pension system to reduce the waiting period for processing of their benefits. Additionally, a welfare scheme had been instituted for all Civilian Employees among several other initiatives. Some construction projects aimed at improving the accommodation situation and the overall effectiveness and efficiency of GAF were also highlighted.
Receiving the delegation, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Frederick Asare Kwasi Bekoe thanked the CDS for his timely visit and stated that they would continue to support the mandate of GAF. He also expressed gratitude to the CDS for his support over the period which had boosted the morale of personnel in all areas.
Accompanying the CDS was the Chief of Staff, Major General Nicholas Peter Andoh, the Deputy Chief of Staff Administration, Air Vice Marshal Michael Appiah-Agyekum and the Military Assistant to the CDS, Colonel Kumi-Darko. The visit ended with a tour of the Headquarters.
