CAS COMMENDS UNMISS GHANBATT 13 FOR PROFESSIONALISM AND DEDICATION TO DUTY

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frempong, has commended personnel of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Ghana Battalion (GHANBATT) 13 for their professionalism, discipline and dedication to duty during a six-day operational visit to the mission area.
The visit, which commenced on Saturday, 3 May 2026, aimed to familiarise the delegation with ongoing operations within the mission area, interact with personnel of GHANBATT 13 and to participate in key operational and ceremonial activities.

During the visit, the delegation paid a courtesy call on the Acting Force Commander of UNMISS, Major General Robert Yaw Affram, and also interacted with Military Observers (MILOBS) in Juba. The delegation further visited the battalion headquarters in Bentiu, where they received briefings on operational activities and the security situation within the mission area.

As part of the visit, Air Vice Marshal Agyen-Frempong addressed personnel at an all-ranks durbar, where he briefed troops on recent developments and future plans of the Ghana Armed Forces. He encouraged personnel to remain resilient, disciplined and professional in the discharge of their peacekeeping responsibilities.
The Chief of the Air Staff also paid courtesy calls on the Head of Field Office, Sam Muhumure, and the Tactical Headquarters, where the delegation received additional briefings on operational activities and the general security situation.

The delegation further witnessed the Medal Day Parade, which honoured personnel of GHANBATT 13 for their unwavering commitment and dedicated service towards maintaining peace and stability in South Sudan under the United Nations mandate.

Other members of the delegation included the Deputy Commandant of Training and Doctrine Command, Air Commodore Edward Kwesi Gyamfi, the Director General Religious Affairs, Brigadier General Benjamin Godson Kumi-Woode, Deputy Director Contingent Owned Equipment (COE) at General Headquarters (IPSO), Lieutenant Colonel Eric Kwame Ampomah, Aide-de-Camp, Flight Lieutenant Miriam Dufie Acheampong Kwarteng, Master Warrant Officer Bawa Abdulai and the Public Relations Officer of the Veterans Association of Ghana, Ex-Warrant Officer Class I Segbefia Bright.
