ENGINEERING WING AFB TAK HOLDS HANDING/TAKING OVER CEREMONY

The Engineering Wing of the Air Force Base Takoradi (AFB TAK) has witnessed a handing and taking over ceremony on Monday 9 September 2024 at the No.3 Hangar, AFB Takoradi.

 

 

The brief ceremony saw the outgoing Commanding Officer (CO) of the Wing, Wing Commander Emmanuel Nkansa Brimpong handing over command to the incoming Acting CO, Squadron Leader Selma Selby.

 

 

In his remarks, the Base Commander, AFB Takoradi, Air Commodore Kwabena Kissiedu Manukure Atiemo commended the outgoing CO for his exceptional and dedicated service. He urged him to continue the good works as he continues to serve the Ghana Air Force in other capacities.

 

 

Air Commodore Atiemo said that he had full confidence in the incoming Acting CO and admonished her to exhibit her full capabilities and potentials as she assumes office as the CO of the Engineering Wing.

 

Delivering his speech, the outgoing CO Engineering Wing said that he was privileged to stand before the personnel as the first substantive Commanding Officer of the Engineering Wing, AFB Takoradi.

 

 

Wing Commander Brimpong remarked that, the journey had been both challenging and rewarding adding that it was made possible by the unwavering support, dedication and professionalism of each and every member of the engineering family including service personnel and Defence Civilian Staff. The outgoing Commanding Officer extended his gratitude to the leadership of the Base.

 

 

The incoming Acting CO, Squadron Leader Selma Selby in her remarks stated that it was a great honour and privilege to assume the role of CO of the Engineering Wing. She expressed her gratitude to the outgoing CO, whose leadership, dedication and hard work had set a high standard for the Wing and the Base at large. Squadron Leader Selby opined that under the leadership of Wing Commander Brimpong, the Wing had achieved remarkable milestones and said she would strive to build on the good works that had been started.

 

 

She added that the success of the Wing relied not only on technical expertise but also on the cohesion, efficiency and morale of a team. She said to achieve that they must foster an environment of teamwork, open communication and continuous improvement in which every personnel plays a crucial role.

 

The highlight of the ceremony was the exchange of the symbol of authority between the out-going CO and the incoming Acting CO.

 

 

In attendance were the Flying Group Commander, Group Captain SY Agbenyefia, CO Supply Wing, Wing Commander Samuel Kwame Baah Banson, CO Administration, Squadron Leader Abdul Aziz Sherif Mustapha, Senior Officers, Officers, Airmen and Defence Civilian Staff.
