The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has unveiled its Gender Policy, marking a significant step towards gender inclusiveness within the military on Friday 15 March 2024 at Burma Camp.

The event organised under the theme ‘Advancing GAF’s commitment towards inclusiveness’ was graced by Her Excellency Martine Moreau, the Canadian Ambassador to Ghana.

Her Excellency Martine Moreau commended the GAF for the progressive approach towards gender inclusivity and affirmed Canada's support in fostering such initiatives. She highlighted the importance of collaboration between nations in advancing gender equality within military institutions.

The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, reiterated his commitment to fostering inclusivity and diversity within the Armed Forces. He said GAF was committed to creating a supportive environment for all personnel regardless of gender.

The unveiling of the Gender Policy signifies the Ghana Armed Forces' dedication to promoting gender diversity and inclusivity while ensuring equal opportunities for all members. The policy aims to address key issues related to gender equality such as fair recruitment practices, career progression, and creating a work environment free from discrimination.
