GAFMS ENGAGES MEDISITE SERVICES GHANA LTD STAFF ON AEROMEDICAL EVACUATION PROCEDURE
The Ghana Armed Forces Medical Service (GAFMS) in collaboration with the Ghana Air Force has organised an Aeromedical Evacuation Training for staff of MediSite Services Ghana Ltd at the Ghana Air Force Aviation College.
The Aeromedical Evacuation course 1/25 which ran from 27 January to 31 January 2025 is the maiden course to include a civilian group. Participants of the course comprised of 20 MediSite staff, 2 civilian specialists and 4 Ghana Air Force personnel.
During the course, participants were taken through key topics such as Critical Care Air Transport, Stresses of Flight, Communication, Crew Resource Management and Medical Logistics amongst others.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Director in charge of Training at GAFMS, Colonel George Boamah expressed deep satisfaction with the progress made by the participants.
He mentioned that, aeromedical evacuation is a crucial aspect of healthcare delivery, requiring precision, coordination and expertise to ensure the safe transportation of patients in critical conditions. He thus commended both the trainees and instructors for their commitment and hard work throughout the training period.
"I am highly impressed with the knowledge and skills acquired by the participants within this short period. The dedication of both the trainees and instructors has been commendable and I encourage you all to apply what you have learned in real world situations," Colonel Boamah stated.
In delivering the welcome address, a Senior Instructor on the programme, Wing Commander Benjamin Toboh highlighted the importance of effective aeromedical evacuation in saving lives. He expressed gratitude to the military high command for creating such an opportunity to share their expertise with their civilian counterparts to enhance their skills in aeromedical operations.
In addition, Wing Commander Toboh expressed confidence in the participants and was highly motivated that they are well equipped to handle emergency medical evacuations with efficiency and professionalism.
In his appraisal of the course, the Course Senior Student, Dr Emmanuel Boakye expressed gratitude on behalf of the participants to the military high command and the course facilitators. He indicated that the experience they had obtained was awesome and would greatly enhance their service delivery and overall work output. He hoped for more opportunities in the future for such impactful collaboration.
