PERSONNEL OF KAIPTC VISITS AFB-TAK

Personnel from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre has on Thursday 8 August 2024 visited the Air Force Base Takoradi to conduct research on Women in Peace and Security (WPS).

 

The research was to ascertain the Operational Effectiveness of the Ghana Armed Forces as a case study.

 

 

The Coordinator of the Women, Peace and Security Institute at Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, Mr Ernest Ofosu Appiah mentioned that the meeting was initiated by the Elsie Initiative. The initiative encourages the meaningful participation of women in Peace Operations and promotes substantially more women representation in non-traditional roles and positions of authority. It also provides equal opportunities for both men and women in the Ghana Armed Forces.

 

 

He stated that, the research included collecting data from personnel of the Western Naval Command, 2 Infantry Battalion and the Air Force Base Takoradi. The team also visited second cycle institutions to collect data.

 

 

The Senior Policy and Programmes Officer at Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, Madam Theresa Ansaa Anafi, explained that Women in Peace and Security Agenda ( PSA), focuses on four pillars namely participation, protection, prevention, rescue and recovery.

 

 

The visit to the Air Force Base Takoradi to conduct the research on the Operational Effectiveness of the Ghana Armed Forces was successful with a greater presentation of Air men and women.
