SEND-OFF CEREMONY HELD FOR OUTGOING AIR FORCE BASE TAKORADI FLYING GROUP COMMANDER
A send-off ceremony was held in honour of the outgoing Commander Flying Group, Air Force Base Takoradi, Group Captain Selase Yaaya Agbenyefia at the Air Force Officers’ Mess, Takoradi on Thursday, 29 January 2026.

In his remarks, the Base Commander, Air Force Base Takoradi, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, described Group Captain Agbenyefia’s departure as a significant loss to the Base but a tremendous gain to the Ghana Air Force. He noted that while her absence would be deeply felt, the Base was immensely proud to see one of its own ascend to such a critical appointment within the Service.

Air Commodore Yirenkyi further added that Group Captain Agbenyefia had been the embodiment of operational excellence and inspirational leadership, and her tenure had been a masterclass in professionalism and competence under her command.

He mentioned that her leadership was rooted in integrity, clarity of purpose, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of personnel and she built not just a team but a family, a cohesive and resilient unit that thrived under her guidance.

The Base Commander also used the occasion to welcome newly commissioned Officers of Regular Career Course 63 who had been posted to the Base and reminded them of a rich legacy, a legacy that Officers like Group Captain Agbenyefia had painstakingly built. He urged the young officers to emulate her career, professionalism, charisma, competence and dedication to her personal duties as their role model. On behalf of the Base, Air Commodore Yirenkyi wished Group Captain Agbenyefia every success as she embarks on the next chapter of her distinguished career.
The outgoing Commander Flying Group, Group Captain SY Agbenyefia in her speech, expressed her heartfelt gratitude and a sense of honour, pride and formative experience for serving the Base for the past two years.
She was appreciative of the learning experiences over the past years and the values that defined the service, discipline, teamwork, resilience and commitment to excellence. She further expressed her appreciation to the Base Commander for his continual guidance and trust in her, even when he was at the Air Force Headquarters. She also thanked her colleagues for their support and encouragement.

Present at the occasion were Commanding Officers, Officers, Honorary members, the Base Warrant Officer and Executives of Air Wives Organisation.
