TAMALE AIR FORCE BASE COMMANDER VISITS GHANA AIR FORCE SPECIAL TASK UNIT

The Air Force Base Commander, Tamale, Air Commodore Joshua Mensah-Larkai on Friday 13 September 2024 paid a working visit to the third batch of trainees of Ghana Air Force Special Task Unit in Tamale.

 

 

The Ghana Air Force Special Task Unit which is the initiative of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal FAK Bekoe has seen troops from all the Bases undergoing the training at 69 Airborne at Barwah barracks in Tamale. The training seeks to enhance the capacity of trainees to effectively perform VVIP/VIP protection, Base/Camp Security, Escort Duties and also counter security threats. Presently a total of 40 all ranks drawn from Air Force Base Tamale and Air Force Base Takoradi are on the course.

 

 

At a durbar organised during the visit, the Base Commander commended both trainers and trainees for their hard work and dedication towards the training. He reiterated the need for continuous training and development to boost one’s confidence in order to be better equipped to handle future threats. Additionally, He encouraged trainees to continue giving out their best and advised them to remain professional and disciplined during and after the training, as professionalism is the bedrock of every soldier.

 

 

The Base Commander informed the trainees that, they will be well kitted to aid their training. He also assured them of quality medical care to keep them healthy and fit throughout their training since the training is physically demanding.

 

 

The Base Commander was accompanied by Wing Commander EK Larbi, the Commanding Officer Supply Wing, Squadron Leader N Sowah, Acting Commanding Officer, Administration Wing, and the Course Commander Major HB Nartey.
