TWO AIR FORCE VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS AWARDED

Two (2) Air Force personnel, Flight Sergeant (F/Sgt) Martha Bavon and Leading Aircraftman (LAC) Benedicta Mawuse Akorli from the Ghana Air Force Volleyball Team have received awards at the Ghana Volleyball Awards Ceremony held on Friday 8 December 2023 at the Accra City Hall, Accra Metropolitan Assembly. 

 

 

F/Sgt Bavon received an award for being the Best Server in the 2023 Volleyball League Competition while LAC Akorli was awarded Best Foreign Based player for her performance in La Cote D’Ivoire. The awards were received on their behalf by LAC Nicholas Tetteh and LAC Cecilia Njana.

 

 

The volleyball awards is a maiden and progressive annual event organised by QWESEVENTS in collaboration with Ghana Volleyball Association (GVA) and the Greater Accra Volleyball Association (GAVA) to celebrate the achievements and contributions of individuals and teams in the volleyball community.

 

In an interview with the head coach, WO II Bakomah, he commended the awardees, stating that in Ghana, they were the first females nominated to play as foreign based players at the professional level. This he noted was worthy of commendation and an inspiration to upcoming players. 

 

The Ghana Air Force volleyball team has in recent times played a significant role in promoting the sports of volleyball hence, the recognition of F/Sgt Martha Bavon and LAC Benedicta Mawuse Akorli would foster the spirit of sportsmanship and excellence among members of the sports team.

 

The awardees, F/Sgt Bavon and LAC Mawuse Akorli recently returned to Ghana after being part of the Ghana National Volleyball Team (Black Spikers) who participated in the 2023 Zone 3 Association of the National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) games which took place in Lome, Togo.
