
UK DEFENCE ACADEMY DELEGATION VISITS AIR FORCE HEADQUARTERS
A delegation of 43 personnel from the Advance Command and Staff Course (ACSC) of the Defence Academy, United Kingdom, led by Captain (Royal Navy) Charlotte Yemm, paid a courtesy visit to the Air Force Headquarters on Monday 28 April 2025.
The visit forms part of the delegation's International Study Tour to Ghana, which is a key activity under their Regional Security Exercise scheduled from Monday 28 April to Friday 2 May 2025. The exercise aims to broaden participants' understanding of regional security dynamics within West Africa.]
During their visit, participants engaged with Senior Officers of the Ghana Air Force, including the Chief Staff Officer, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi and Directors at the Headquarters. A detailed briefing on the "Ghana Air Force's Role in Ghana’s National Defence and Regional Security" was presented by the Deputy Director of Air Operations, Wing Commander Davies Aboagye.
As he outlined the critical roles the Ghana Air Force plays in safeguarding the country's sovereignty and its impact on national and sub-regional security. He emphasised the Air Force’s unwavering commitment to protecting Ghana’s airspace and its readiness to confront any threat.
Highlighting the Ghana Air Force’s international engagements, Wing Commander Aboagye noted the Force’s contributions to United Nations Missions, particularly in airlifting troops and delivering humanitarian aid in crisis-affected areas.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Captain (RN) Charlotte Yemm expressed gratitude to the Ghana Air Force for the warm reception and the comprehensive and insightful briefing. She further described the visit as invaluable to their understanding of regional security challenges and collaborative defence efforts.
