ZAMBIA’S DEFENCE ADVISOR PAYS FAREWELL VISIT TO AFHQ

The Defence Advisor of Zambia to Ghana, Brigadier General Derek Mbolela Mwendaogyo, has paid a farewell visit to the Air Force Headquarters (AFHQ) on Thursday, 2 April 2026, after completing his tour of duty in the country.

 

He was received on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff by the Chief Staff Officer, Air Commodore Mathias Awuah.

 

 

During the visit, Brigadier General Mwendaogyo expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and cooperation he enjoyed throughout his five-year tenure in Ghana. He noted that his time in the country had been both professionally rewarding and personally fulfilling, highlighting the strong and enduring ties between Zambia and Ghana. He further emphasised the importance of sustained collaboration in defence and military relations between the two nations.

 

 

Air Commodore Awuah, on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff, commended Brigadier General Mwendaogyo for his invaluable contributions to the Ghana Air Force and the broader defence community. He noted that the relationships built during his tenure would continue to strengthen bilateral cooperation and provide a solid foundation for future joint engagements.

 

 

As a mark of appreciation, Air Commodore Awuah presented a gift to Brigadier General Mwendaogyo in recognition of his significant role in promoting cooperation and mutual understanding between the two countries.

 

 

The visit reaffirmed the strong partnership between the Ghana Air Force and its Zambian counterpart, underscoring their shared commitment to regional security and defence collaboration.
