A 22-member delegation from the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Joint Command and Staff Course 39, led by Brigadier General Christopher Sibanda, paid a study visit to the Air Force Headquarters on Tuesday, 28 July 2026.

The delegation was received by the Chief Staff Officer, Air Commodore Sophia Adzo Jiagge, who welcomed them on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff. She highlighted the importance of such engagements in strengthening professional military relations, knowledge sharing and cooperation between the two Armed Forces.

As part of the visit, the Deputy Director Air Operations, Wing Commander David Aboakye, delivered a lecture on the multifaceted roles of the Ghana Air Force. His presentation highlighted the Service's responsibilities in safeguarding Ghana's airspace, supporting land and maritime operations, providing humanitarian assistance and contributing to national development.

Wing Commander Aboakye underscored the critical role of the Ghana Air Force in maintaining peace and security in Ghana and supporting stability within the wider region. He also highlighted the Service's contribution to national development through disaster response, humanitarian operations and other military assistance to civil authorities.

He further touched on the Ghana Air Force's participation in joint military exercises, training activities and humanitarian missions with regional and international partners, emphasising the importance of collaboration in addressing contemporary security challenges.

The visit concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which members of the delegation sought further insight into the operations and capabilities of the Ghana Air Force. The engagement also provided an opportunity for both sides to explore prospects for enhanced cooperation in training, capacity building and professional military development.
