2 GARRISON AND SECURITY SERVICES UNDERTAKE ROUTE MARCH IN TAKORADI
The 2 Garrison of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), in collaboration with sister security services, undertook a regional security services route march on Tuesday, 23 December 2025, in Takoradi.

The route march formed part of a nationwide series of simultaneous marches conducted across all GAF garrisons in conjunction with sister security services. The exercise was aimed at reaffirming the collective commitment, readiness, and resolve of the security services to ensure peace, security, and public safety in the Western Region in particular, and throughout the country in general.

In his remarks, the 2 Garrison Commander, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, stated that the exercise served as a powerful message of reassurance to the public. He noted that each step taken through the principal streets of Takoradi reaffirmed the security services’ unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property, especially during the festive season and beyond. Air Commodore Yirenkyi emphasised that the commitment of the security services did not end with the route march, stressing that their responsibility to the citizens remained non-negotiable and had been further strengthened with renewed vigour.

In his remarks, the Deputy Western Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ayamga Y Akologo, congratulated all participating personnel for successfully completing the route march. He urged them to maintain high morale and continue to work diligently to ensure peace, law, and order within the region.

Present at the event were the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Commodore Samuel Ayelazono, the Flag Officer Fleet, Captain (GN) John Bekuin-Wurapa, the Commander, Flying Group, Air Force Base Takoradi, Group Captain Selase Yaya Agbenyefia, the Commanding Officer, Naval Base Sekondi, Commander Charles Darkwah; the Second-in-Command, 2 Infantry Battalion, Major Isaac Akyena, Commanders and representatives from sister security services, as well as Senior Officers, Officers, and men drawn from the Ghana Armed Forces and other security services in the Western Region.
