AFHQ PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO AIR COMMODORE PUMPUNI (RTD)
In a gesture that reflects the Ghana Air Force’s enduring respect for its trailblazers, a delegation from Air Force Headquarters paid a special visit to former Chief of the Air Staff, Air Commodore Kwame K Pumpuni (Rtd), at his residence in Accra on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
The visit, undertaken on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff and led by the Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration), Air Commodore Sophia Adzo Jiagge, formed part of a broader initiative to honour the Service’s distinguished veterans while drawing on their experience and wisdom to help shape the future of the Ghana Air Force.

The visit formed part of the CAS’s initiative to maintain close contact with former Chiefs and senior officers of the Ghana Air Force, while also checking on their well-being and exploring ways in which the Service can continue to support them.
During the interaction, Air Commodore Pumpuni (Rtd), who served as the 8th Chief of the Air Staff, shared experiences and insights from his years of dedicated service. He also offered several suggestions aimed at enhancing the operational capabilities of the Ghana Air Force and strengthening support systems for retired personnel.

Further discussions highlighted the importance of maintaining strong relationships with Service veterans. Air Commodore Pumpuni (Rtd) encouraged the Air Force to regularly invite retired personnel to military functions and events, noting that such engagements would enable them to reconnect with former colleagues while remaining actively linked to the Service they once served.

At the end of the visit, the delegation presented an undisclosed cash donation to Air Commodore Pumpuni (Rtd) as a gesture of goodwill and appreciation. In response, he expressed his sincere gratitude to the Chief of the Air Staff and the visiting team for the thoughtful gesture. He further assured the delegation that his doors remain open to continued dialogue and collaboration to shape a brighter future for the Ghana Air Force.

Other members of the delegation included the Director of Training, Group Captain Krampah Kwabena Antwi, the Deputy Director of Administration (Organisation and Services), Wing Commander Louisa Boakye, Personal Staff Officer Grade II, Squadron Leader Desmond Kaburo, the Unit Warrant Officer, Senior Warrant Officer Kwafo Asare Jacob among others.
