AFTRAC AND AFLA CONDUCT FIREFIGHTING TRAINING
The Headquarters Air Force Training Command (AFTRAC) and the Air Force Leadership Academy (AFLA) on Wednesday, 1 October 2025, conducted firefighting training for their personnel at the AFTRAC premises in Tamale. The exercise, facilitated by the Fire Section, formed part of efforts to strengthen safety awareness and emergency preparedness within the units.
The programme covered fire prevention, fire classification, and the correct use of fire extinguishers. It was attended by the Commander AFTRAC and the Commanding Officer AFLA, highlighting the priority given to workplace safety.
Participants received a briefing on the science of fire, with emphasis on the fire triangle consisting of fuel, oxygen and heat, and how removing any of these elements can suppress a fire. The Fire Section also explained the various classes of fire and the corresponding extinguishers, including Class A for solid combustibles such as wood and paper, Class B for flammable liquids, Class C for gases, and special extinguishers for electrical fires.
The Commander AFTRAC, Air Commodore Richard Danso stressed that fire safety is a collective responsibility and urged participants to apply the knowledge gained both at work and at home.
