AIR FORCE BASE TAKORADI HOLDS SEND-OFF CEREMONY FOR GROUP CAPTAIN EDWARD AGANA ADONGO

Air Force Base Takoradi has held a send-off ceremony for the outgone Senior Air Traffic Controller (SATCO) Group Captain Edward Agana Adongo at the Air Force Officers' Mess in Takoradi on Friday 4 October, 2024.

 

In his farewell remarks, Group Captain Adongo stated that, his military career which began three decades ago had been great and eventful. He was grateful to God for seeing him through to his last moments of serving the Colours.

 

 

He expressed his appreciation to the Military High Command, his family, Officers, Airmen and Defence Civilian Staff for their support during his time in office. He stressed that their professionalism, loyalty and commitment to their mission as Airmen and stakeholders in their effort to serve the country had been his constant source of inspiration.

 

 

He was grateful to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Frederick Asare Kwasi Bekoe, Air Marshal Michael Samson-Oje (Rtd), Air Vice Marshal Maxwell Mantsebi-Tei Nagai (Rtd) and Air Commodore Eric Agyen-Frempong for giving him the opportunity to impart his knowledge in Air Traffic Control/Aviation at the Takoradi Airport as the Airport Manager

 

He said that as he looks forward to begin a new chapter, he would carry along with him lessons, memories and the pride of serving the nation.

 

 

The Base Commander, Air Force Base Takoradi, Air Commodore Kwabena Kissiedu Manukre Atiemo acclaimed that, he has deep respect for the outgone SATCO and his competence and his  ability to transfer it in different circumstances was impressive and evident in the outpouring of goodwill messages  by officers and guests.

 

He praised him for his diligence, dedication and humility to all and added that, he would be missed not only by personnel of the Air Force but the entire Ghana Armed Forces.

 

 

Air Commodore Atiemo said his personal relationship with Group Captain Adongo dated back to his Flight Cadet days when Group Captain Adongo was a Flight Lieutenant.

 

He also commended his spouse, Mrs Alice Adongo for her immense support throughout her husband's career and for her dedicated leadership to the Air Wives Organisation (AWO) and wished them well in their retirement.

 

 

The Flag Officer Fleet (FOF) of the Ghana Navy, Commodore Samuel Ayelazono said that Group Captain Adongo was a man of many skills, and his diligence at work stands out. He intimated that his relationship with Group Captain Adongo spans three decades, beginning when he first arrived as a young Officer. He described  him not just as a brother at arms but a brother-in-law whose words of advice had spurred him on .He applauded him for his service to the Ghana Armed Forces and thanked his family for the support they had given him over the years.

 

 

Citations and gifts were presented to the outgone SATCO by Senior Officers and Officers Commanding the various Wings at Air Force Base Takoradi, Air Wives Organisation and other guests for his selfless service to Ghana.

 

 

Present at the Occasion were Commanding Officers of the Various Wings, Officers, Airmen, Defence Civilian Staff, Representatives of Air Wive's Organisation and various Corporate Organisations.
