CDS EMBARKS ON MAIDEN WORKING VISIT TO 2 GARRISON

The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong, paid his maiden working visit to 2 Garrison in Takoradi from Tuesday, 23 to Thursday, 25 September 2025.

The visit formed part of his efforts to familiarise himself with units and personnel under his command.

At an all-ranks durbar, Lt Gen Agyapong shared his vision of building a cohesive, professional, and motivated force. He assured personnel that welfare would remain a top priority to boost commitment and efficiency.

He also pledged to ensure the provision of the necessary logistics and equipment to enhance the operational readiness of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

The CDS stressed the military’s role in safeguarding national and regional stability and urged troops to stay committed to supporting civil authorities and contributing to peace and security.

He further highlighted the importance of key training programmes in strengthening teamwork, promoting fitness, and raising morale.

During an operations briefing, commanders from the Air Force Base Takoradi, Western Naval Command, and 2 Infantry Battalion presented updates on the state of their units, outlining progress, challenges, and ongoing projects.

The CDS and his entourage later toured facilities at the three bases, inspecting projects and interacting with personnel. The visit allowed him to acquaint himself with ongoing developments, challenges, and the overall state of the Garrison.
