CDS PAYS MAIDEN VISIT TO 6 GARRISON
The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong, has embarked on his maiden visit to 6 Garrison from 20 to 24 October 2025.

The 5-day visit, which formed part of his maiden tour of Units following his assumption of office, provided the CDS and his principal staff officers with first-hand insights into the Garrison’s operations.

The CDS was welcomed with a colourful Guard of Honour after which he received detailed briefing from the General Officer Commanding Northern Command, Brigadier General Worlanyo Agbebo, the Commander Air Force Training Command, Air Commodore Richard Danso and the Commanding Officer No. 2 Transport Wing, Wing Commander Divine Akoto on behalf of the Commander Air Force Base Tamale and the 6 Garrison Commander, Air Commodore Nana Adu-Gyamfi.

The brief included the operational, administrative and logistics states of the Units as well as its challenges. In his address following the brief, the CDS pledged his commitment to support the Garrison by providing the necessary resources to optimise operational effectiveness within the Northern Sector.

During the visit, the CDS inspected key installations, facilities and ongoing projects in the units and committed to aiding its completion. His visit was crowned with an all-rank durbar which provided the opportunity for troops to interact with him.

He commended officers, soldiers and defence civilian staff of 6 Garrison for their teamwork, professionalism and dedication to their units amidst various operational challenges and reaffirmed his support for their welfare and operational needs, highlighting plans underway to give GAF a facelift and to better the lives of personnel and their families.

He urged troops not to be demoralised about the reduction of personnel deployed in UN Peace Support Operations, adding that troops should rather continue doing their utmost best to achieve a common goal for the betterment of GAF and the country as a whole.
