GHFAC HOLDS CLOSING CEREMONY FOR DIAMOND DA-42 NG TYPE RATING COURSE

The Ghana Air Force Aviation College (GHFAC) has held a closing ceremony for the Diamond DA-42 NG Type Rating Course 1/2025 on Friday, 28 November 2025, at the Air Force Base Takoradi.

The five-week course brought together sixteen (16) engineering personnel drawn from various Bases and Commands of the Ghana Air Force. The training aimed to deepen their technical competence and enhance the Air Force’s capacity to effectively operate and maintain the Diamond DA-42 NG aircraft fleet.

Delivering remarks as the Guest of Honour, the Acting Commanding Officer of No. 1 Transport Wing, Wing Commander Archibald Nana Opoku, commended the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frempong, and High Command for institutionalising this strategic capacity-building programme. He noted that the initiative reaffirmed the critical role of aircraft maintenance engineering in sustaining Air Force operations.

Wing Commander Opoku highlighted that the participants had acquired valuable knowledge, sharpened their technical proficiency, and demonstrated the discipline, professionalism, and analytical thinking required of aviation maintenance personnel in a military environment. Their certification, he said, placed them among the select group trained to ensure the continued airworthiness and operational readiness of the Diamond DA-42 aircraft.

He further observed that the DA-42 platform continues to evolve through new configurations, software upgrades, and maintenance standards. He therefore cautioned the graduates against compromising safety, professionalism, and established maintenance protocols.

Speaking on behalf of the trainees, Warrant Officer Class I Tekpetey Simon Tetteh during the course critique, described the programme as intensive and comprehensive, involving group and individual presentations alongside practical assessments. He recommended that subsequent iterations of the course be extended to allow for broader academic coverage and deeper hands-on engagement. Certificates of recognition were later presented to all participants
