77TH ANNIVERSARY OF 28TH FEBRUARY CROSSROADS SHOOTING INCIDENT COMMEMORATED

The 77th anniversary of the 28th February Crossroads Shooting incident has been commemorated at the Nationalism Park, Osu in Accra on Friday 28 February 2025.

 

 

The annual event is held to honour the three ex-servicemen, Sergeant Adjetey, Corporal Attipoe and Private Odartey Lamptey who met their untimely death in 1948 while matching to the Osu Castle to present a petition to the then Governor, Sir Gerald Creasy.

 

 

The solemn event featured service personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and Police matching on parade, flag raising and wreath laying ceremony.

 

 

During the ceremony, the first wreath was laid by the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Her Excellency Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang on behalf of government and the people of Ghana and the Chief of the Defence Staff, General Thomas Oppong-Peprah laid a wreath of behalf of GAF and other security services.

 

 

 

Others included a wreath being laid on behalf of Veterans, Traditional leaders and a representative of Corporal Attipoe's family on behalf of the fallen soldiers.

 

Dignitaries present at the event included the Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Interior Minister, Honourable Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Traditional leaders and Heads of the various security services.
