The Air Force Training Command (AFTRAC) in Tamale has officially graduated the first cohort of the Squadron Commanders Course at a ceremony held on Thursday, 16 October 2025.
The eight-week intensive course was designed to consolidate officers’ professional knowledge in staff work, operational planning, communication, command and leadership. Gracing the ceremony, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command, Brigadier General Worlanyo Agbebo, commended the participants for their resilience, discipline, and dedication throughout the training. The GOC expressed confidence that the course had significantly strengthened their professional competence and equipped them with the requisite skills for future leadership roles, particularly as they prepare for the Senior Command and Staff Course.
Brigadier General Agbebo also lauded the Air Force Headquarters and AFTRAC for their continuous commitment to enhancing the knowledge, confidence, and leadership capacity of Air Force officers in line with the Service’s mandate of providing effective air power for national defence.
The Commander of AFTRAC, Air Commodore Richard Danso, in his address, expressed profound appreciation to the Chief of the Air Staff and his staff officers for their steadfast support in ensuring the success of the course. He also praised the participants for their exemplary conduct and cooperation, noting that the knowledge and experience gained would serve as a vital foundation for their future command and staff responsibilities.
