Air Commodore Nana Adu-Gyamfi has handed over as Base Commander, Air Force Base Tamale, to Air Commodore Kwabena Kissiedu Atiemo at a ceremony held on Monday, 10 August 2026, at Air Force Base Tamale.

The handing over marked the end of Air Commodore Adu-Gyamfi’s tenure as Base Commander and 6 Garrison Commander, and the assumption of command of Air Force Base Tamale by Air Commodore Atiemo.

The Guest of Honour, the Northern Regional Minister, Honourable Ali Adolf John commended Air Commodore Adu-Gyamfi for his leadership and contribution to security in the Northern Sector. He said his leadership had strengthened the security architecture of the region and promoted effective cooperation with the Northern Command.

Hon John also acknowledged his support during the funeral rites of the late Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II and the subsequent enskinment of Kampakuya Naa Yakubu as Regent of Dagbon.

The Guest of Honour congratulated Air Commodore Adu-Gyamfi on his appointment as Defence Attaché to the Arab Republic of Egypt, with additional responsibility for Morocco and Lebanon, and expressed confidence in his ability to excel in the new assignment.

In his farewell address, Air Commodore Adu-Gyamfi expressed appreciation to personnel for their loyalty and dedication, noting that the achievements recorded during his tenure were the result of collective commitment and sacrifice.

He highlighted the construction of studio accommodation, improvements to the Base welfare bus system, restoration of the Base Ankai bus and completion of the renovation Base Operations Room as some of the key achievements during his tenure. Ongoing projects included a rest stop and guard hut near the Old Airport Junction. He assured all that the proposed astro turf park for recreation would definitely come into fruition even in his absence.

Air Commodore Adu-Gyamfi welcomed Air Commodore Atiemo and urged him to lead with integrity, empathy and vision. He expressed confidence that personnel would support the new Base Commander in advancing the mission of Air Force Base Tamale.
