
AIR FORCE BASE TAMALE DELIVERS FREE MEDICAL CARE TO KOGNI COMMUNITY
The Air Force Base Tamale in a bid to support public health, has conducted a clean-up exercise and medical outreach programme in Kogni, a neighouring community to the Base on Saturday 1 March 2025. This initiative, led by medical Air Force officers undergoing Regimental Orientation Training, was supported by the 69 Airborne Forces with assistance from the officers and medical personnel of the 6 Garrison Medical Corps. The initiative began with a vibrant procession through the streets and culminated in a comprehensive medical exercise at Kogni Primary and JHS School Park.


The medical outreach provided essential health services, including BMI assessments,fasting blood sugar tests, rapid malaria tests, and blood pressure checks. Participants identified with underlying health conditions received on-site medication. Throughout the exercise, health officials delivered informative talks on crucial health topics. A pivotal moment saw a local resident diagnosed with a severe condition and swiftly evacuated to Savelugu Hospital, with initial expenses covered by the outreach programme, showcasing its commitment to immediate and critical care.


The Base Commander, Air Force Base Tamale, Air Commodore Joshua Lartei Mensah-Larkai, during the community donation, expressed his profound gratitude for the successful organization of the event and acknowledged the generous contributions of sponsors, including Air Force Base Tamale personnel, Ernest Chemist, Ginapharma and Tobinco Pharmacies. He emphasized the importance of their continued collaboration and support to the Base and local communities as part of their corporate social responsibility. Air Commodore Mensah-Larkai also commended the outstanding efforts of the officers and men from the 69 Airborne Force, 6 Garrison Medical Corps, 93 Signal Regiment, and all airmen. Additionally, he acknowledged the Air Wives Organization for
their warm presence and invaluable support.

Finally, Air Commodore Joshua Lartei Mensah-Larkai extended his sincere appreciation to the residents of the Kogni, Kulmanga, Yilonayili and Baangiyili communities for their participation and time. He expressed hope that the donated items would have a significant and lasting positive impact in the lives of the community members.

Honourable Alfred Osman,the Assemblyman for Kogni, graciously received the donated items on behalf of the Chief and elders of the community. He expressed his sincerest gratitude to the Base Commander, officers, soldiers and Defence Civilian Staff and all individuals who in diverse ways contributed to the successful execution of the event.
