CHIEF OF STAFF CALLS FOR NATIONAL COHESION AT NCDS COURSE 3 MATRICULATION

The Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Honourable Julius Debrah, has underscored the importance of national cohesion in promoting security and sustainable development. He made these remarks as the Guest of Honour during the matriculation ceremony for participants of Course 3 of the National College of Defence Studies (NCDS), held on Wednesday, 13 May 2026, at Burma Hall.

Congratulating participants on their admission into the College, Honourable Julius Debrah described the course theme, “National Cohesion for Security and Sustainable Development,” as timely and relevant, particularly in a world confronted with insecurity, political instability and rapid socio-political changes.

He further assured participants of the government’s commitment to improving conditions at the Defence College, stating that he would engage the Acting Minister for Defence and the Minister for Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, on accommodation arrangements for the institution as part of efforts to support participants' welfare.
The Chief of Staff also commended the faculty and staff of the College for their dedication and praised the increasing participation of allied officers and civilian agencies, noting that this reflected the growing credibility and relevance of the institution both nationally and internationally. He wished participants a successful academic journey and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity offered by the programme.

Participants of Course 3 were officially ushered into the College to pursue a Master of Arts Degree in Strategic Studies. The course, scheduled to run for 48 weeks, comprises 25 participants made up of 15 personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces, 4 personnel from various ministries and departments, and 6 participants from five allied African countries namely, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda and Zambia.

Delivering his keynote address, Air Vice Marshal Felix Adom Asante congratulated participants on gaining admission into the College, noting that their selection reflected dedication, competence and a strong commitment to service within their respective institutions. He further explained that taking the matriculation oath symbolised their readiness to uphold the norms, values and academic standards of the College.
Air Vice Marshal Felix Adom Asante encouraged participants to approach their studies with dedication, curiosity, critical thinking and an unwavering commitment to truth. He stressed that academic excellence alone was insufficient, noting that the hallmark of the National College of Defence Studies lies in the integration of knowledge and character.

He further explained that leadership is not defined solely by academic achievement, but also by integrity, accountability and selfless service. He therefore urged participants to remain focused, resilient and supportive of one another throughout the programme.
Present at the ceremony were the Deputy Minister for Defence, Honourable Ernest Brogya Genfi, the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, representatives of the Service Chiefs, Formation Commanders, senior officers both serving and retired, Forces Sergeant Major among others.
