The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), as part of activities marking its 40th Anniversary celebrations, organised an exhibition and open day at the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority Training Academy (GATA), Accra International Airport, on Wednesday, 6 May 2026.

Ghana Air Force, as a key stakeholder in Ghana’s aviation industry, participated in the event through a delegation from the Ghana Air Force Aviation College (GHAFAC). The exhibition celebrated GCAA’s significant contributions to the development and enhancement of aviation standards in Ghana through world-class training in air traffic control, aviation safety and security.

The open day featured guided tours of the academy’s modern training facilities, offering participants the opportunity to interact with experienced instructors and gain insight into the academy’s comprehensive training programmes designed to equip aspiring aviation professionals with the skills and expertise required in the aviation sector.

During his address, the Director General of GCAA, Reverend Stephen Wilfred Arthur, expressed appreciation to participants and stakeholders for their continuous support towards the growth of Ghana’s aviation industry. He underscored the importance of collaboration among industry players and encouraged participants to continually upgrade their knowledge and skills, noting that the aviation industry is dynamic and constantly evolving.

Throughout the event, emphasis was placed on GCAA’s critical role in promoting safe, secure, and efficient air transport operations in Ghana and beyond. The celebration also highlighted four decades of excellence, innovation, and dedication to the advancement of the country’s aviation industry.

GHAFAC mounted an impressive exhibition stand which attracted a large number of patrons. Visitors were given a virtual flying experience through the aircraft simulator, providing participants with a practical appreciation of aviation training and flight operations. The stand also showcased the Ghana Air Force’s commitment to aviation training, professionalism, and technological advancement.

The anniversary exhibition further served as a platform to inspire the next generation of aviation professionals while strengthening collaboration among stakeholders within the aviation sector.

At the close of the event, participants departed with a renewed sense of pride in Ghana’s aviation achievements and a shared commitment towards sustaining safety, professionalism and excellence in the aviation industry.
