MEET SWOI AMPONSEM EDWARD, NEWLY APPOINTED MAWO

After 26 years of exemplary and dedicated service to the Ghana Armed Forces, Senior Warrant Officer Class I (SWOI) Edward Amponsem has been appointed as the Master Air Warrant Officer (MAWO) of the Ghana Air Force, a testament to his professionalism, leadership and unwavering commitment to duty.

 

Prior to his appointment, SWOI Amponsem served as the Command Sergeant Major of the 37 Military Hospital, where his leadership prowess and contribution to the effective administration and operational efficiency of the institution was unparalleled.

 

Over the course of his distinguished career, SWOI Amponsem has occupied several key appointments within the Ghana Armed Forces. Notably, he served as the Regimental Sergeant Major of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) and Administrative Warrant Officer at the Ghana Military Academy (GMA), among other important roles that have shaped his broad professional experience.

 

 

A passionate instructor and mentor, SWOI Amponsem has played a pivotal role in developing future generations of military personnel. His tenure as a Drill Instructor at the Ghana Military Academy and a Skill-at-Arms Instructor at the Ghana Air Force Recruit Training School enabled him to impart essential military values, discipline and leadership principles to officer cadets and recruits during their formative years. His influence has undoubtedly left a lasting impact on many personnel currently serving across the Armed Forces.

 

As part of his career progression and knowledge acquisition, SWOI Amponsem has consistently pursued professional learning development. His military education includes the Tactical Casualty Care Course for Service Personnel, Sergeant Major Course, Advanced Drill and Duties Course, Advanced and Basic Multipurpose Machine Gun Courses, as well as the Basic Weapon Fitting Course.

 

Beyond military training, he has strengthened his academic credentials through studies at the University of Ghana Business School, earning both Basic and Advanced Certificates in Industrial Security Management, Forensic Studies and Investigations.

 

 

SWOI Amponsem's dedication and outstanding performance have earned him several awards and commendations. Among these are the Recognition Award as Best Administrative Warrant Officer of the Ghana Military Academy in 2023 and a Citation for Dedication and Commitment to Duty in 2024.

 

His service record also includes extensive participation in United Nations peace support operations. He has served in missions including the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL).

 

As he assumes the office of Master Air Warrant Officer of the Ghana Air Force, SWOI Edward Amponsem brings to the position a wealth of operational experience, instructional expertise and proven leadership.
