Ghana Air Force (GHAF), in collaboration with the Spanish Air Force, has commenced the Air Mobility and Transportation Logistics Course 1/2026 at the Ghana Air Force Aviation College (GHAFAC).

The six-week course, which began on Monday, 12 October 2026, brought together 30 participants, comprising 15 Commissioned Officers, five Warrant Officers and eight Senior Non-Commissioned Officers from the Ghana Air Force, as well as two Non-Commissioned Officers from the 5 Forces Movement Unit (5FMU).

Organised under the framework of the European Union Security and Defence Initiative for the Gulf of Guinea, the training forms part of ongoing cooperation between the European Union and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to strengthen operational capabilities in air mobility and transportation logistics.

Addressing participants at the opening ceremony, the Guest of Honour and Commander, Air Force Logistics Command (AFLOC), Air Commodore Samuel Benjamin Offei, described the collaboration with the Spanish Air Force and the European Union as an important opportunity to strengthen professional expertise through the exchange of operational experiences, procedures and best practices in air mobility and logistics.

He emphasised that the success of air operations depended not only on aircraft capabilities and personnel proficiency but also on effective logistics planning, coordination and sustainment. According to him, ensuring that the right personnel and cargo reach the right destination at the right time, safely and in accordance with established regulations, remains fundamental to the success of air operations.

Air Commodore Offei further noted that the Ghana Air Force increasingly undertook operations alongside sister Services and international partners, particularly in peacekeeping deployments and regional security missions. He explained that such engagements required a thorough understanding of the complexities associated with the cross-border movement of personnel, equipment and essential supplies.

He indicated that the course was therefore designed to equip participants with the requisite knowledge and practical skills to effectively plan, coordinate and sustain the safe and lawful transportation of personnel and cargo in support of air operations.

The AFLOC Commander encouraged participants to maximise the training opportunity by actively engaging their instructors, sharing experiences and demonstrating commitment throughout the course.

He further urged them to apply the knowledge and skills acquired and share best practices with colleagues upon returning to their respective units. Air Commodore Offei commended GHAFAC and personnel involved in organising the programme for their efforts towards ensuring its successful commencement.

He also expressed the Ghana Air Force's appreciation to Captain Arcenegui and his team from the Spanish Air Force, as well as the European Union, for their continued support and commitment to strengthening the operational capabilities of the Ghana Air Force.

He subsequently declared the Air Mobility and Transportation Logistics Course 1/2026 officially opened.
