AFB-TAK HONOURS ELEVEN DEFENCE CIVILIAN STAFF

On Thursday, 14 November 2024, Air Force Base Takoradi honoured eleven retiree Defence Civilian Staff (DCS) in a memorable ceremony. This was in recognition of their long and dedicated service to the Base, the Ghana Air Force and the Ghana Armed Forces as a whole. 

 

In his remarks, the Base Commander, Air Commodore Kwabena Kissiedu Manukre Atiemo said the Department of Defence Civilian Establishment forms an integral part of the Ghana Armed Forces organisational structure and Defence Civilian Staff (DCS) play pivotal non-combatants roles to support the operations of the Armed Forces.

 

 

He added that DCS over the years have demonstrated loyalty and dedication to their role and therefore recognising and honouring their contribution is imperative. He commended all the retirees for their immense contributions to the achievements of the Ghana Armed Forces with some of them serving for over fourty years.

 

 

 

Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Madam Helena Assan thanked the military high command and the Air Force Base Takoradi Office of Defence Civilian Establishment and all stakeholders for the invaluable support accorded them throughout their tenure at the Base and the kind gesture they received as they continue life on retirement. She expressed hope of the ceremony being established to continuously honour others after them.

 

 

The eleven retirees were honoured with citations and cash rewards. They included Mr Foster Adu-Antwi, Mr Ernest Commey, Mr Kwug Sorae, Mr Kojo Nanyoro and Madam Helena Assan. The rest are Madam Stella Badu, Madam Veronica Awortwe Nyamekye, Madam Bertha Aguze, Mr Anthony Prah, Mr Ibrahim Ackah and Madam Janet Bosomtwe.

 

 

 

Similarly, a special citation was given to the outgone Civilian Administration Personnel Officer (CAPO), Mr Ebenezer Adamu, who had served the Base diligently for 24 years and was transferred to continue his service as the CAPO at Second Infantry Battalion, Myohaung Barracks, Apremdo.
