AFHQ PERSONNEL SENSITISED ON DENGUE FEVER
A medical team from the Duala Medical Centre on Thursday 8 August 2024 educated Air Force Headquarters personnel on the Dengue fever. Dengue fever is a viral infection transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes. The sensitisation lectures aimed to create awareness on the early detection and prevention of the Dengue fever.
The Medical Officer in charge of the Duala Medical Centre, Dr Ewura Adjoa Ahimah Nunoo said a total of 36 cases had been recorded in the Eastern and Central Regions. Adding that, the virus was commonly found in tropical and subtropical areas of the world.
Dr Nunoo explained that the symptoms which usually appear from 4 to 10 days may include high fever, nausea, severe headache, vomiting, swollen glands and among many others. She indicated that there were no specific treatments for dengue fever. She therefore advised personnel to keep their environment clean, use mosquito repellents and to always wear protective clothing.
