AIR FORCE BASE TAMALE BEGINS THE 2024 FARMING SEASON

Air Force Base Tamale has begun planting some crops for this year’s farming season.  The Base aims to enlarge the size of its farm by cultivating 50 acres of land compared to the previous year when they cultivated 20 acres.

The Base Commander, Air Commodore Joshua Lartei Mensah-Larkai mentioned that the project which is under the support of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Frederick Asare Kwasi Bekoe, will not only boost self-sufficiency but also establish the Base as a model of excellence in crop and fish farming.

The project will see the planting of both maize and soybeans, with plans to dedicate about 20 acres to soybeans and about 30 acres to maize.

This, alongside the greenhouse farming project which is dedicated to the cultivation of tomatoes and the fish pond is expected to contribute significantly to food security on the Base.

With planting well underway and high participation from Airmen and Defence Civilian Staff, Air Force Base Tamale is poised for a fruitful harvest.
