The Ghana Air Force has commissioned a 24-unit studio accommodation block at Air Force Base Tamale as part of ongoing efforts to improve personnel welfare and enhance operational effectiveness.

The facility was officially commissioned on Friday, 21 August 2026, adding to ongoing infrastructure development across Ghana Air Force Bases aimed at providing personnel with decent and suitable living conditions.

In his remarks, the Base Commander, Air Commodore Kwabena Kissiedu Atiemo, expressed appreciation to all stakeholders whose efforts contributed to the successful completion of the project. He particularly acknowledged the Immediate Past Base Commander, Air Commodore Nana Adu-Gyamfi, for his keen interest and support towards the project.

Air Commodore Atiemo assured that the facility would be properly maintained to preserve its quality and ensure its continued benefit to personnel.

The Guest of Honour, Air Vice Marshal Griffiths Santrofi Evans (Rtd), commended the Ghana Air Force leadership for the infrastructure development taking place at Air Force Base Tamale. He underscored the importance of a strong maintenance culture to ensure that military infrastructure remains functional and continues to serve its intended purpose.

As part of the ceremony, individuals who contributed significantly to the successful completion of the project were recognised. Plaques were presented to the contractor for his contribution towards the successful execution of the facility and to Warrant Officer Class II Nkoom, whose invaluable assistance contributed to the realisation of the project.

The ceremony brought together senior officers, officers, airmen and airwomen, former commanders and invited guests. It featured the dedication and formal commissioning of the facility, ribbon-cutting, unveiling of a commemorative plaque and a tour of the accommodation block.

The commissioning of the 24-unit studio accommodation block further demonstrates the Ghana Air Force's commitment to progressively addressing accommodation needs, improving the welfare of personnel and developing infrastructure that supports operational effectiveness.
