AIR FORCE BASE TAMALE CONDUCTS EMERGENCY RESPONSE EXERCISE

Personnel from the Rescue Fire Fighting Service and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) from the Air Force Base Tamale conducted a Base Emergency Response Exercise on Monday 8 July 2024.

The simulation exercise was aimed at testing the Base's preparedness  and responsiveness to fire incidents and potential terrorist attacks. Additionally, it was to measure interoperability, cooperation, teamwork and general effectiveness of the Base.

During the exercise, personnel were taken through Entry/Exit Control Checks, Crowd Control Measures, Medical Emergency Response, First Aid, Voice Procedure, Conduct of Search and Rescue and Fire Fighting Drills.

Additionally, Airmen had the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the Base Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the Emergency Response Procedures on the Base.

The Base Commander, Air Commodore Joshua Lartei Mensah-Larkai, during the post-exercise address said that conducting such exercises was crucial given the high level of threats of terrorism and other related crimes in the 5  Northern Regions. He commended the participants for their show of professionalism and thorough preparation which culminated into a successful execution of the exercise.

Air Commodore Mensah-Larkai noted that conducting such exercises frequently would help address any shortcomings likely to occur during periods of disaster. Consequently, it would enable the Base to be well postured to deliver on its mandate.
