CAS REITERATES VISION FOR A ‘SMART AIR FORCE’ AT ALL RANKS DURBAR

As part of his tour and interaction with personnel at the various Air Force Bases, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Frederick Asare Kwasi Bekoe paid a working visit to the Air Force Base Accra on Thursday 11 July 2024.

In line with his vision of creating a "Smart Air Force capable of defending the territorial air space against any threat and deliver air power effectively and efficiently for national development while enhancing the welfare of Airmen," AVM Bekoe highlighted several key initiatives.

He pointed out the ongoing capacity building efforts, where a significant number of Officers and Airmen have embarked on both local and overseas courses.

On infrastructural developments, he noted that projects across the various Bases were progressing well and on schedule. Additionally, he mentioned ongoing efforts to procure new helicopters, transport and light attack aircraft to reinforce the capabilities of the Air Force.

According to the CAS, these strategic ways of spearheading his vision would enhance the operational efficiency and readiness of the Ghana Air Force in order to effectively execute the mandate.

On the other hand, AVM Bekoe commended personnel for their professionalism thus far and urged them to maintain these high standards. He however cautioned against engaging in illegal activities such as ‘galamsey’, recruitment fraud, armed robbery among others which he noted could tarnish the reputation of the Armed Forces.

As the country approaches its general elections, AVM Bekoe emphasised the importance of neutrality and professionalism among the personnel to ensure a peaceful electoral process.

At the end of the visit, the CAS together with his entourage inspected several ongoing projects within the Base. Projects inspected included renovation works at the Ghana Air Force Aviation College, a 24-unit accommodation facility and the construction of the WO's and SNCO's Mess.
