The Acting Chief of the Air Staff and Base Commander of Air Force Base Tamale, Air Commodore Nana Adu-Gyamfi, has commended retiring Airmen of the Ghana Air Force for their unwavering commitment, professionalism and selfless service to the nation. He further urged them to remain active, spend quality time with their families and prioritise their health as they transition into retirement.
Air Commodore Adu-Gyamfi made these remarks during a farewell ceremony organised in honour of the 1996 Intake Group at the Warrant Officers' and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers' Mess on Tuesday, 16 June 2026.

The retirees comprise 61 Warrant Officers of Course 1/1996 who are due for retirement after completing 30 years of dedicated service in the Ghana Armed Forces.
Addressing the gathering, Air Commodore Adu-Gyamfi noted that the retirees joined the Ghana Air Force at a time when military service demanded preparedness, endurance, sacrifice and courage. He observed that throughout their careers, they had remained steadfast in the performance of their duties, serving diligently through numerous training exercises, operational deployments, ceremonial assignments, peacekeeping operations, and other national engagements.

He praised the retirees for consistently placing duty above self and remaining committed to the mission of the Ghana Air Force despite the varying challenges and demands of military service. According to him, their careers exemplified loyalty, discipline and devotion to duty.

The Acting Chief of the Air Staff further stated that the retirees leave behind a rich legacy of professionalism, discipline, mentorship and dedication that has strengthened the foundation upon which the Ghana Air Force continues to build. He also paid glowing tribute to their spouses, children and loved ones, acknowledging the invaluable support they provided throughout the retirees' military careers.

Air Commodore Adu-Gyamfi encouraged the retirees to embrace the next phase of their lives with confidence and optimism, reminding them that retirement marks not the end of service, but the beginning of another chapter of meaningful contribution to society.

In his remarks, the Base Commander of Air Force Base Accra, Air Commodore Elvis King Arneson, described the retirees as a distinguished group of Airmen whose commitment and sacrifices had contributed immensely to the growth and development of the Ghana Air Force over the past three decades. He commended them for their loyalty and dedicated service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavours.
