GHANA AIR FORCE HONOURS LATE AIR COMMODORE GODFRIED SACKEY PARKER WITH MEMORIAL MASS
A solemn memorial mass was held on Tuesday, 26 November 2024, at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church at Air Force Base Takoradi to honour the life and service of the late Air Commodore Godfried Sackey Parker, a former Base Commander, a year after his demise.
In his remarks, the current Base Commander, Air Commodore Kwabena Kissiedu Manukre Atiemo, paid tribute to the late Air Commodore Parker, highlighting his exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to the Armed Forces. He described the late commander not only as a leader but also as a mentor and friend, whose integrity and strength were unmatched. He emphasized that Air Commodore Parker’s influence had left a lasting impact on many.
Air Commodore Atiemo recounted the late officer’s reputation as a forward-thinking leader known for his strategic vision and hands-on approach to command. He noted that Air Commodore Parker consistently encouraged personnel to prove their worth to their superiors and peers to earn the respect they deserved. This mantra, he added, has remained a guiding principle throughout his own career.
He called on all personnel to honour the late commander’s memory by supporting efforts to elevate the Base to the high standard he envisioned.
Despite the profound loss of Air Commodore Parker at the peak of his career, his memory and legacy would endure.
The ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the enduring impact of Air Commodore Parker’s leadership and service to the nation.
